Stakeholders

Stakeholders Focus Group meeting was held in Malta on 22nd November 2019. More details are given below.

The JUMP2Excel TWINNING project aims in upgrading the scientific, engineering and research performance and innovation capacity in the field of Photovoltaics emerging research, related integration technologies and electricity markets. The proposed network of excellence is defined by three institutions in the field with proven track record in PV and energy research in United Kingdom (UK), The University of Manchester (UNIMAN); Spain, Centro Nacional de Energías Renovables (CENER); and France Commissariat à l’Energie Atomique et aux Energies Alternatives (CEA) partners in the project.

The Round Table Forum was on ‘The Future of Photovoltaics in the Mediterranean’.

In today’s world of decarbonisation, decentralisation and digitalisation the success to integrate PVs, related technologies and electricity markets increased its impact and effectiveness. The Round Table served as a discussion forum in Photovoltaic (PV) systems and integration which helped in discussion among the following themes of research:

  • Fusion of emerging PV technology development
  • Focused PV integration technical solutions
  • Energy-Water Nexus, focus on PVs
  • Future Electricity Markets with PVs
  • Examining Energy Pathways in the Mediterranean

International and local stakeholders are identified among research and education institutions, extension services, decision-makers, private sector representatives, formal and informal groups. By establishing dialogue and collaboration among stakeholders this round table helped in strengthening their engagement in fine-tuning research strategy design in PV energy with identified gaps and challenges and supporting its implementation especially in the Mediterranean region.
